The Stanley
38, by John Williams Boat Company
The Stanley
38 is a traditional semi-displacement hull with a reasonably flat section aft,
a slight dead rise and a soft chine. It has a little rocker in the bottom
and a deep forefront that helps hold her up in the wind when docking. She
cruises comfortably at 18 knots and tops out around 20-23 knots. Fifty percent
of all the hulls we’ve built since 1972 are owned by commercial fishermen so
you know right away that she’s built for safety in open waters, sea kindliness
and steadfast durability.
The Stanley
38 evolved from our Stanley 36, the company’s flagship, when one of our
customers wanted more room in the forecastle. Rather than design an
entirely new mold we decided to extend the length of the Stanley 36 by adding
36 inches right in the middle of the hull. The extension lengthens out the
sheer line accentuating the pretty, transitional lines of the Stanley 36.
The extension also offers more room in the center of the boat where it counts
the most. To date, we have built four of these “stretch” 36’s and all of
them are with their original owners.
The
pilothouse and cockpit are open and well suited for enjoying the sights and
sounds while cruising. Both areas offer excellent visibility and the
entire pilothouse can be enclosed should the weather become inclement. Below
decks, you will find a large v-berth forward plus a full head with shower. Our
renowned joinery and brightwork are finished in your choice of woods. In
addition, you can choose to have the galley up or down. And the all of the
accommodations can be customized to your needs.
The 38’s
large cockpit encourages you to spend your time aboard absorbing the natural
elements. It’s a great platform for fishing or entertaining, with plenty
of room for 10-15 guests. A table and chairs could be added to the aft
settee for the perfect plein air dining area.
The Stanley
38 is meticulously built for safety as well as comfort by the crew at John
Williams Boat Company. It is sure to bring you years and years of
pleasure where ever you choose to cruise. There is nothing trendy about
her. Her classic lines and the integrity of her construction and design
are timeless and enduring.
