New York, NY 3/30/2016 1:00:00 AM

American soprano Angel Blue will make her first Met appearances in the recitals at Central Park SummerStage (June 22) and Brooklyn Bridge Park (June 24), opposite young Met stars Ben Bliss and Alexey Lavrov.

Three members of the Met’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program—Michelle Bradley, Kang Wang, and Yunpeng Wang—will star in the remaining four recitals in the series, which is presented in collaboration with City Parks Foundation.

New York, NY (March 30, 2016) — The 2016 Metropolitan Summer Recital Series will once again bring free outdoor recitals featuring rising young stars of the opera world to New Yorkers in all five boroughs.  The series, now in its eighth year, is presented in collaboration with City Parks Foundation’s SummerStage Festival and will feature six free concerts between June 22 and July 13. The first two recitals, on June 22 at 8 p.m. at Central Park SummerStage and June 24 at 7 p.m. in Brooklyn Bridge Park, will feature soprano Angel Blue—a rising star who will make her Met debut in a future season—tenor Ben Bliss, and baritone Alexey Lavrov, joined by pianist Dan Saunders.

Four additional recitals, again featuring Saunders, will feature soprano Michelle Bradley, tenor Kang Wang, and baritone Yunpeng Wang, all three of whom are members of the Met’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. These recitals will take place according to this schedule: Thursday, July 7 at 7 p.m. in Clove Lakes Park (Staten Island); Saturday, July 9 at 7 p.m. in Jackie Robinson Park (uptown Manhattan); Monday, July 11 at 7 p.m. in Socrates Sculpture Park (Queens); and Wednesday, July 13 at 7 p.m. in Crotona Park (Bronx).
No tickets are required for any of the performances.

The Met’s Summer Recital Series will feature aria and duets from a variety of operas. There are no rain dates for any of the park recitals.
The Met’s Summer Recital Series is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council, and in collaboration with the Department of Parks and Recreation. Major funding has also been provided by The Elizabeth B. McGraw Foundation, in honor of Mrs. McGraw, and the Robert Wood Johnson, Jr. Charitable Trust’s Met Parks Concert Fund.
