NYPL FRANCIS MARTIN LIBRARY

The Francis Martin branch of The New York Public Library is named for the distinguished Bronx judge (1879–1947), who served as the first district attorney of Bronx County. The branch, which is air-conditioned and fully accessible to people in wheelchairs, first opened in 1956. In 2008, a renovation transformed the second floor into a spacious, sunny area that houses the children’s collection. The first floor features adult and young adult collections for borrowing, as well as an extensive reference section.
